Place Detectives (Stage 1)

Students will explore the features of the Australian Botanic Garden, including the nature play area, Fruit Loop and Connections Garden. They will embark on a detective walk, complete various mapping activities, and connect with the different environments through sensory activities. Throughout the excursion, students will use geographic information and tools to interpret the Garden.

This excursion supports the Features of Places strand of the Stage 1 NSW K-10 Geography Syllabus.

Students will:

  • Engage in a treasure hunt of our nature play area using a map, as well as making their own map
  • Take on the role of a detective to discover the features of the Connection Garden
  • Explore the Fruit Loop garden, learning about the way plants are used, and mapping their experience
