Students will learn about the ecology of the Cumberland Plains Woodland, an example of a woodland biome, and how humans have resulted in its listing as critically endangered. Students will undertake mapping exercises to observe and quantify how the Cumberland Plains Woodlands have been altered. They will undertake water and soil quality testing and learn about sustainable rehabilitation stratagies taking place within the Cumberland Plains Woodland.
- Students will create a sketch map of the study area from a satellite image after walking through the woodland and mapping evidence of human impacts
- They will perform soil and water quality testing to asses the health of the woodland
- Students also investigate sustainability stratagies that minimise environmental impacts on the woodland
