Tours and Walks

The Australian Botanic Garden is home to vast landscapes, stunning horticultural displays and the pinnacle of plant science research, The Australian PlantBank all of which provide the visitor with a number of tours and walks.

Free Guided Spring Walks

Spring has certainly sprung here at the Garden and our dedicated volunteer guides are offering free tours of the Connections Garden on Fridays during the season. If you wish to go on one of the tours, please book at the Visitor Centre in person or call 02 4634 7935 to ensure your place.

Tour times: 1st and 3rd (and 5th when it occurs) Friday during September, October and November 2017 at 11am and 1pm

Free Guided Tours of PlantBank

On the weekends the dedicated volunteer guides at the Garden provide free guided tours of the Australian PlantBank (please keep in mind these do not go behind the scenes like the paid tours do).

Tour times can vary so please contact the Visitor Centre to confirm times and to book your space on the tour as tours book out quickly.

Tour times: Fri at 1pm,  Sat and Sun 11am and 1pm,

Drive Tours of the Whole Garden

Hop a board the electric people mover and let our experienced guides provide you with an informative drive tour of the whole Garden.

Tour times: Every week on - Thursday 11am & 1pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm, every second week on Monday 11am & 1pm

Cost: $5 adults, $3 children (7-12 years) 


Group Tours

If you are travelling to the Garden in a group, the following tours are available:

Garden Tour One of our guides will hop aboard your bus and take your group on a fully commentated tour of the Garden (Duration 1 hour, minimum 15)
The Australian PlantBank Tour See the processes involved in conserving Australia’s flora at this internationally significant scientific research facility (Duration 1.5 hours/min 9; max 20)

Self Guided Walks

The Gardens have a number of trails and paths that you can follow throughout the Gardens 416 hectares. New walks are currently being developed so watch this space.
