Space Rocks! - A "Space Night" with the Rock Stars of Science

Uncover the secrets of space in the brand-new “Space Night” event at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan.

Join us for a night with two of the most celebrated space scientists - Geoffrey Notkin and Amy Shira Teitel - who will present their current research and introduce you to the fascinating science of astronomy.

Snacks and wine will be supplied between talks, and visitors will have the opportunity to peak through the telescopes of the MacArthur Astronomical Society and gaze into the great unknown!

About the scientists

Geoffrey Notkin is a well-known television host, meteorite hunter, and science writer. Described by the media as "one of the rock stars of science", Geoff Notkins hosts Science Channel's award-winning adventure series Meteorite Men and the Emmy Award winning STEM Journals.

He studied geology, photography, writing, and design in London, Boston and New York and is the owner of Aerolite Meteorites LLC of Tucson and a leader in space rock recovery and research.

Amy Shira Teitel is a spaceflight historian, author, Youtuber, and popular space personality. Amy fell in love with spaceflight when she was seven years old; researching for a second-grade project on Venus, she was captivated by a cartoon image of two astronauts on the Moon.

She needed to know how and why men walked on the Moon, and she never let that fascination wane. She started blogging in November 2010. Blogging turned into writing - her first book "Breaking Chains of Gravity" was released in 2015, and now she runs a popular Youtube channel, Vintage Space. She holds a Bachelor's degree with combined honours in History of Science and Technology Studies and a Master's in Science and Technology Studies.
