What you need:
- A pond, lake or river
- Large white container or tray
- A dip net or pool scoop
Safety tips
- Don’t put your hands near your face while dip-netting
- Wash with soap when you are finished – you don’t want to ingest any pond water

Find an area where you can safely access the bank.
Fill your container with water and place it on the ground away from the bank.
Empty the contents into your container.
