No plants, no future...
In this virtual excursion students will explore why this statement is true, how scientists classify and name plants and how Botanic Garden’s Scientists are contributing to an understanding of the botanical world. Students will examine the majestic Wollemi Pine and the floral shape of the Proteaceae family as case studies and create their own herbarium specimen just like that of botanical scientists.
- Students will identify reasons for classifying living things
- Classify some plants based on similarities and differences in structural features and use simple keys to assist
- Explain how the features of some Australian plants are adaptations for survival and reproduction in their environment
