Terms and Conditions - Weddings

These terms and conditions are to be read in conjunction with the Garden's general event terms and conditions available here.

Garden infrastructure

Bookings are for exclusive use of a designated wedding ceremony site within the Australian Botanic Garden and do not include any garden infrastructure, such as BBQs, tables, benches or playgrounds located at or near the site. Wedding ceremonies must not interfere with the general use of public facilities.


Your ceremony booking includes use of your ceremony location for photos (this must be within your 2 hour booking time) as well as use of other garden locations for photos. However if the Connections Garden has not been paid for then this Garden cannot be used for your photos.


Ceremony bookings allows for the hirer to have one (1) hour of rehearsal time in the ceremony location leading up to the wedding. This hour must be booked with the venue coordinator and can only take place prior to 10am or after 4pm on the rehearsal date and booking is completely subject to availability.

Platinum Package Wet Weather/Cancellation

In the case of wet weather or cancellation of the Platinum Package any later than 12pm (midday) the day before the ceremony, the hirer will receive a 50% refund on the hire cost of the package. For cancellations of the package any later than this time frame, NO refund will be given.

If there are any extreme weather events on the day of your ceremony, the Garden reserves the right to cancel your Platinum Package booking and a full refund will be provided.

Rehearsals must be booked prior by calling (02) 4634 7903.

If supplying your own caterer (Marquee Lawn only), the caterer must have a Gold Licence and this must be supplied one (1) month before the event takes place only and they must also have completed an on-site induction.
Room Set Up, Cleaning and Waste Disposal

Your hire includes cleaning and waste disposal, but not setup of the venue. At the end of your hire rubbish should be removed to the bins provided.

Hours for Hire

If your reception includes the bump in of substantial props, equipment, structures etc, please ensure that you have allowed for this in your booking, ie. if you are having a fully styled reception in the Bowden Centre you will need to book the day before and the day after your reception date for bump in and out of equipment.

Bump in and out can occur within the normal operating hours of the Garden.


Marquees must be weighted, not pegged and must not impose on any garden bed, touch any trees or cover any pathways.

Reception Photography

Your reception booking includes use of your reception location for photos (this must be within your booked time). If you wish to use other areas, you must book and pay the associated fee for the additional area/s.


Access to water is available. The Hirer is responsible for supplying a tap key and all hoses required to fit a 19mm standard tap connection.
Please note a wedding photography booking is for use of the Garden as a back drop for your photos. It does not include a photographer.

Booking Location

One location will be reserved for your use. However there may be other Garden users in the area at the time. You are permitted to take photos in other areas of the Gardens on the day if they are available (excluding Connections Garden unless paid for). No Drones Permitted unless prior approval is obtained and confirmation received. Infringement notices will apply for unauthorised use.

Booking Duration

Your photography booking is for a two (2) hour duration which includes set up and pack down time. 

Garden Infrastructure

Bookings do not include any garden infrastructure, such as BBQ’s, tables, benches or playgrounds.

Wedding photography must not interfere with the general use of public facilities.
