Come visit the Australian Botanic Garden Education & Engagement Team’s stall at the Markets at Lakeside! Each month we’ll have a different scientist who will share fun facts about food and science. There’ll also be a hands-on activity for the kids (big and small!) to partake in. It’s science…where you least expect it!
Sunday May 30th
Have you been thinking about growing your own food? Do you have a veggie patch at home and would love some hot tips straight from a scientist?
Join Michelle Mak, an agricultural scientist from Western Sydney University, to discover how we can grow more food using fewer resources, like water and pesticides.
Michelle is passionate about sharing her love for sustainable agriculture, food security, environmental protection, and managing pollinators, along with reducing food waste, food miles, and chemical use.
10:00am – 4:00pm: Stop by our science stall to check out what we do at the Australian PlantBank, chat all things seeds and science, and let the kids plant a seed to grow into a plant for pollinators!
11:30am - 2:30pm: This month’s feature scientist, Michelle Mak, will be there to answer all your questions! We can't wait for this one, see you there!
With thanks to Inspiring Australia for supporting this event.
