Come visit the Australian Botanic Garden Education & Engagement Team’s stall at the Markets at Lakeside! Each month we’ll have a different scientist who will share fun facts about food and science. There’ll also be a hands-on activity for the kids (big and small!) to partake in. It’s science…where you least expect it!
Sunday June 27th
Do you know that one third of the world's food produced is wasted? Would you like to learn how to waste less food? Our guest scientist for the Markets at Lakeside on June 27th is Dr. Sunil Panchal - a food scientist from Western Sydney University. His research focuses on developing ways to reduce the amount of food waste produced.
Dr. Panchal is also a biomedical scientist who teaches biochemistry and nutrition and has worked on identifying the health benefits of different foods that are purple in colour. Is a purple capsicum really better for you?
Come say hello to Dr. Panchal and find out!
10:00am – 4:00pm: Stop by our science stall to check out what we do at the Australian PlantBank, chat all things seeds and science, and let the kids do a hands on seed activity!
11:30am - 2:30pm: This month’s feature scientist, Sunil Panchal, will be there to answer all your questions! We can't wait for this one, see you there!
With thanks to Inspiring Australia for supporting this event.
